iPage, founded in 1998, are relatively new to web hosting compared to some, but have been around for over 10 years now. After having a major restructuring and re-launch in 2009, they have been committed to being one of the top 10 players.
Plans start at quite low price per month and they are offering anytime money back guarantee. They say, “we focus on the three things our customers care about: their web sites, their email and their online security”. Customer Support is by phone, email and live chat support 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Features
The facilities offered by iPage include web hosting, site management, email hosting, domain registration, e-commerce services and web marketing. They offer a wide range of online site builders and software such as FrontPage, Expressions or Dreamweaver and the major blogging applications such as Drupal, Joomla, WordPress etc. Plus good website templates, site builders and free scripts.You also get a free domain for the first year, which cannot be bad.They also have a mass of tutorials available that look extremely helpful, especially for newbies.
The core features include, unlimited disk space, transfer/bandwidth, domains and MySQL databases. You get a free domain name, $50 credit for Google AdWords and $25 credit for Yahoo Sponsored Search. The standard email forwarding, autoresponders etc. are available along with various shopping carts with PayPal integration.

Conclusion
iPage offer a tempting package for most users, but more advanced users may struggle with the iPage control panel called ‘vDeck’. Those used to using the cPanel interface will find it a little unusual. This aside the tools and services offered are very good. For WordPress users the usual one click install is available along with a large library of free scripts for more complicated requirements, plus the usual photo galleries etc.
To be fair all the web hosting services reviewed here are of comparable quality and all give a quality service so you won’t go wrong by choosing any of them. But, each service has qualities which may or may not be what you require so review each web hosting service and make your choice based on your requirements.
- There are web hosting services which are far beyond my capabilities and understanding so I have not even attempted to review such services.
- I required a web site that could be up and running in less then a day with very little prior knowledge. I needed something where the web hosting experts provided most of the background work so I could concentrate on my web site.
- Also, the offers made by each ISP change weekly, so please check each ISP prior to making a commitment.
Although each ISP has many offers which vary over time I have tried to be specific to the requirements above and ignored items such as FREE Photo Albums etc. as these can be added to most sites by downloading and installing the appropriate scripts.
