What is Acronis True Image Home?
Acronis True Image Home is an integrated software suite which ensures the security of your priceless information, disk backup software (hdd). With Acronis True Image Home PC backup software you can backup your PC’s operating system, your applications, personal settings and all of your data including images, music and documents. You can rest assured that all your systems are protected and easily recoverable in the event of a disaster. Also, and this could be really important if you are a business, you get archive encryption as standard. That mean you can password protect your hard earned data and stop it falling into unscrupulous hands (a few government departments might like to take note of this feature).
Also the newest Acronis True Image Home 2011 is supposed to be the best solution for moving your system to Windows 7 and storing your backups online whilst also being able to securely destroy confidential information you no longer need.
Two of the nice things I like about True Image Home 2011 is the new USB 3.0 support and predefined backup schemes. I like anything that makes life a little easier (just plain lazy I guess). I need Windows XP backup software and will shortly be moving over to Windows 7, so this small business backup solution could be a very suitable and cheap data backup solution for me.

Many New Features
Acronis True Image Home 2011 boasts many new special features for the more experienced user, but, thanks to its excellent user interface these additions do not complicate the software. It’s nice to see the standard features are still at the forefront of the user interface. Ideal for the less experienced user.
If you are upgrading you’ll be please to learn the software maintains its easy "One-Click backup" solution, and yes, it can still be personalized for backing up selected files or applications and securely removing information.
Non-Stop Backup
A new feature entitled "Non-stop backup", allows Acronis True Image Home to monitor the current status of your system and create periodic in-situ backups every 5 minutes whilst you are working. This feature could come in very handy, especially for developers, as it allows you to roll back your system and files to any point in time.
New Online Backup (Optional)
Acronis True Image Home 2011′s Online Backup facility costs $4.95 per month or $49.95 per year (at the time of writing) for 250GB of online data protection. This feature allows you to create a backup of your information, with government-grade encryption, to a secure server which can be accessed only by you from any location in the world with an internet connection.
- Acronis Online Backup enables you to protect up to five PC’s and laptops in your home with the same account.
The only down side I can see for this facility is the smallish 250GB storage limit, but hopefully, with the cost of storage dropping all the time this limit will be increased or even removed. Though I would imagine this is probably a good size for most people.
Upgrading To Windows 7
Personally I still use WinXP so I’ve not tried this enhancement, but the literature says:
"Get Ready for Windows 7. Planning on moving your system over to Windows 7? Make a full backup image of your system before beginning the upgrade or migration process. If something goes wrong during the installation, simply restore your full system from the backup. Once Windows 7 is up and running, use the full backup image to move files and folders into the new operating system."
So, should you be thinking of upgrading your operating system to Windows 7, never fear! Acronis True Image Home 2011 supports Windows 7, however, I’ve read that some users are reporting extraordinarily long wait times when creating a Windows 7 backup. If you need more information on this, I suggest you nip over to the Acronis Forum.
